Mimiko's Wife Identifies Entrepreneurship As Panacea to Poverty

The wife of Ondo State governor, Mrs Olukemi Mimiko, has identified entrepreneurship, anchored on sound education, as a major avenue to minimise poverty in the country. Mrs Mimiko, who made this known at the valedictory service and award ceremony of Demonstration Secondary School of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo , noted that entrepreneurship was the way out of poverty.

She said: “The major index for growth and development across the globe is sustainable entrepreneurial practice for the enhancement of poverty eradication anchored on a sound educational background.” The wife of the governor, who was given Award of Recognition, said it was high time we did a re-orientation for the youth to make them understand the essence of entrepreneurial empowerment. Her words: “As students, you must work hard and also gather skills that will make you become entrepreneurs. Our educational system should address this re-orientation right from the elementary levels through the university, so that students can prepare themselves to live independent of government upon graduation.”

She, however, urged the graduates to be focused as they go into a competitive world and praised the management of the school for its achievements and development programmes. Earlier in his address, the Guest Speaker, High Chief Olabanji Akingbule, stated that the value of education cannot be underrated, saying “with or without money, you can reach the top of the ladder of education if you are brilliant.” He told the student that they could reach the top in future through hard work and determination.
