ONDO STATE KIDNEY DISEASE CENTER READY


The kidney disease center built by the Ondo State government under the leadership of Dr. Olugen Mimiko and situate at Laje road, Ondo has commenced operation since last month
Making this revelation is the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju in an interview with The Hope during his inspection visit to the hospital.
Adeyanju who disclose that since commencing operation, said that the Kidney Disease Center has done 17 patients dialysis series, it means the structure is functioning effectively.

      “Dialysis is available with the treatment of any chronic disease of the kidney and it opens everyday of the week and every hour of the day”, he stated
Adeyanju disclosed that the kidney center is functioning with 10 units of dialysis machine with the VIP suite, isolation ward to provide efficient services.
He posited that the standard of the hospital conform with the international standard of infection control
“We are unique in whatever we do, even without starting, we have already received an award with the vision and mission of Mr. Governor, Dr. Olugsegun Mimiko.
      “We have no doubt, we will beat the imagination of everyday and we also want to benchmark for the continent of Africa with this: he said.
Adeyanju therefore called on the people who require the service at the kidney center to avail themselves the opportunity of the facility put in palace at the center.
“So the public who require the service here should come around, they don’t have to travel to Ibadan or across the country to have a dialysis done” he said.
Also in an interview the chief medical director of the center, Dr. Akinbodewa Akinmomi, said since the commencement of operation ,the center has made tremendous progress, saying” we have been able to utilize more than percent of the facilities here”
He posited that dialysis points are 10, one VIP wards, two isolation ward for Hepatitis B and HIV as well as Hepatitis C for the general population of chronic kidney disease.
“So far, we have recorded nothing less that 17 dialysis, so an average of one dialysis section per day.” He stated.
Akinmoni state that since operation, no mortality has been recorded adding that all their patients are all doing fine.
He state that out patients usually comes for follow up at the out patient department where they come based on their schedule given them by doctors
Akinmoni also disclosed that the center will soon have transplant committee so that it can start kidney transplant for Ondo State indigenes and Nigerians all large.

He said the center is equipped enough with Standard Laboratory and collaboration with the Trauma center, it could be achieved
